Aloha to our Ohana. This year planning for #BacktoSchool ππ will be very different from years past. There will be new challenges π·, but there will also be a lot of love and support as we all band together to support our #keiki and their #education.β

With public schools ππ set to begin on August 17th, we would like to share a handful of tips on planning for π©π½βπ« in-person classes, π¨π»βπ»virtual or at-home learning, and caring for the mental health π and emotional wellbeing β€οΈ for our keiki.β
β
Although #publicschools πππ on Oahu are going to begin as virtual classes, students are still being required to come on campus to meet their teachers and become acclimated with distance learning during the first week. As a result, we first would like to share a few tips on planning for In-Person Classes.β

1. Review and practice proper hand washing ππΌπ§ΌπΏtechniques at home, especially before and after eating and adjusting a mask π· or cloth face covering. Make hand washing fun π and explain to your keiki why itβs important.β
β
2. Reinforce the concept of physical distancing with your keiki. π§π»βοΈπ¦π½β

3. Develop daily routines before and after schoolβfor example, things to π pack for school in the morning (like hand sanitizer and an additional (back up) mask π·) and things to do when you return home (like washing hands ππΌπ§ΌπΏ immediately and washing masks π·π§ΌπΏ).β
β
4. Make sure your info is current at school, including emergency contacts π and individuals authorized to pick up your keiki from school. If that list π includes anyone who is at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19, consider identifying an alternate person.β
β
5. Be familiar with local π¦ Covid-19 Testing sites in the event your keiki develops any symptoms π€π€§.β
